Awesome Indies Book Awards (AIBA) is typically open for submissions during the first seven days of each month. However, this period is flexible and depends on assessor availability and the number of submissions currently awaiting assessment.
When submissions are open, the submission form will be available on this page. When submissions are closed, the form will not be accessible.
Please note that submissions are only accepted through the designated form on this page. We do not accept emailed submissions.
AIBA is currently closed for new submissions.
Please try again next month.
ANY NEW SUBMISSION RECEIVED WHEN AIBA IS CLOSED WILL NOT BE ASSESSED.
About Us
AIBA is operated by a group of independent authors, editors, and creative writing educators working together to build a list of the best English-language self-published or independently published books available today.
Policies
Other Terms and Conditions
We understand that some authors may feel disappointed if their book does not gain AIBA approval. To maintain the integrity of AIBA, all reported concerns or grievances are carefully reviewed. However, assessment decisions are final.
AIBA does not engage with correspondence that is deemed offensive, derogatory, defamatory, or inappropriate.
Books approved by AIBA assessors, or awarded the AIBA Seal of Excellence, will be listed on the AIBA website.
Where a book falls below the required standard, assessors may recommend areas for improvement. Some assessors also offer independent professional editing services, which authors may choose to explore. These services are separate from AIBA and do not influence assessment outcomes. Please see the Manuscript Appraisals page for further information.
AIBA does not accept resubmissions for reassessment, even where revisions have been made.
Books that receive a minimum rating of 4 stars from our assessors will be considered AIBA Approved. Books considered outstanding, or those receiving 5 stars, may be assessed for the AIBA Seal of Excellence.
Due to a backlog of submissions and a limited number of assessors, some books may not receive an assessment within twelve months of submission.
We are unable to process Amazon “gifting,” so please do not send books using this method.
If your book is published through Amazon KDP, instructions for downloading your e-book can be found on the Amazon content management page.
We currently accept PDF files only for submission.
We generally do not accept non-fiction or poetry books at this time.
Reviews
The purpose of AIBA is to assess the quality of self-published or independently published fiction. The star rating associated with public reviews is not always an accurate indication of a book’s quality. A poorly written or inadequately edited book may receive multiple five-star reviews due to its appeal, but such a book would not meet AIBA’s standards for approval.
Although AIBA does not provide formal reviews, assessors may, at their discretion, choose to post a review on platforms such as Amazon or elsewhere.
Assessments are editorial in nature. We assess how well a book has been written and edited, rather than personal preference for the story.
We reserve the right not to assess or list any publication we consider socially irresponsible.
We are no longer able to accept unpublished books.
It is the author’s responsibility to provide the correct file, clearly labelled at the time of submission.
We are unable to reassess submissions where an incorrect file was originally provided.
Timelines and Restrictions
Assessment requests may take up to 12 months or longer to process, depending on assessor availability and submission volume. If you have not received an update after 12 months, you are welcome to follow up on your request.
Due to the limited number of available assessors, AIBA accepts one assessment request per author per calendar year, and only one active request at a time. Additional submissions within the same calendar year, or while a previous request is still pending, will not be processed.
However, priority processing and additional submission opportunities may be granted to qualified and active AIBA assessors. If you are interested in contributing as an assessor and learning more about this opportunity, click here.
