My office is located on the lower level, in the quietest part of the house. I built it from the bare concrete floor and walls to what you see here. There’s enough room for three computers, one for the internet (Twitter, Facebook, email, research, etc.), one for graphics and video design, and one for writing. It helps me focus, or multitask, as the situation requires. Two built-in bookcases are behind me so I don’t have to move much. I spend 12-16 hours here per day writing, editing and promoting.
I have a tiny office which is packed out with books, writing materials, office supplies, and all the stuff a writer collects. The computer I use is one I built myself – I’m a bit of a techie when I’m not writing. You probably can’t see the detail but I have the Awesome Indies web site featured on the monitor. To the right of the monitor is a pile of reference books which are in constant use. A pile of software DVDs sits behind the monitor, and to the left is my formatting file which I refer to when uploading Kindle books or formatting for Create Space. In front of the PC tower are my finance folders (to keep the tax folks happy) and various folders of ongoing work. There are overloaded bookcases to the right of the picture but I thought it best not to include them. I work in a happy state of chaos, and as a character in my latest book says, “Never, ever tidy me up” because that is one sure way I’ll lose everything I need.
